FAQ

Below you’ll find answers to the questions that we get asked the most about our jewelry and Black Six Jewelry in general.

What materials do you construct your jewelry with?

During the manufacturing of your jewelry, Black Six Jewelry uses copper as a major design element of most pieces. However, we do have designs that also employ brass, bronze, silver, leather, and fabric as major design elements. This would be in addition to whatever gemstone, wood, or bone elements have been used to create your piece. Please feel free to contact us directly using our contact form if you ever have any questions about the construction of our jewelry.

Please visit our Material Digest to get a master list of all materials we use on our various pieces.

How should I clean my jewelry?

For copper, brass and all other base metal jewelry, we recommend using water, lemon juice, and salt. Simply mix together a 75 / 25% mixture of lemon juice and hot water with several generous tablespoons of regular table salt. Stir the mixture dissolving as much salt as possible and swish your jewelry around in it for a few minutes. Thoroughly rinse off your jewelry and dry it using a lint-free cloth.

For gold, we offer an amazing cleaner that is safe on all jewelry and gemstones. For silver, we sell a polishing cloth that can be found on our website.

Why is my silver jewelry turning dark?

This is very common for silver jewelry to turn dark over time. It is called tarnishing and it happens with all silver pieces. Fortunately  it is very easy to clean since the tarnished layer is only the surface layer and can be polished away.
